49ers trade targets: Bleacher Report links team to pass rushers, tight end

The San Francisco 49ers, sitting at 4-1 and leading the NFC West, could be active buyers ahead of the November 4 NFL trade deadline. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently outlined several potential trade candidates across the league, linking the 49ers to three intriguing names: New York Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, and Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.

The first two options make the most sense, as the 49ers are in dire need of pass-rushing help following the season-ending ACL injury to star defensive end Nick Bosa. Knox listed San Francisco among the possible suitors for the Giants' young defender.

Knox suggested that New York could be tempted to move Thibodeaux, with Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter in the fold. He believes the former top draft pick could be acquired for a 2026 second-round pick or a starting-caliber wide receiver.

"He's still young, has logged 2.5 sacks and eight QB pressures this season, and is under contract on a rookie deal for two more seasons," Knox wrote. "Thibodeaux is set to play on the fifth-year option in 2026. Even if New York can't land a receiver now, it should be interested in getting more help for Dart in 2026."

Trey Hendrickson

Of course, no trade deadline discussion about pass rushers would be complete without mentioning Hendrickson. Knox connected the 49ers to the veteran edge defender, suggesting he could be available for a conditional second-round pick.

However, the Bengals may wait before making any moves, as their season may hinge on quarterback Joe Burrow's recovery from a toe injury.

"The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported in August that the Bengals wanted a 2026 first-round pick and a young defensive player in return for Hendrickson," Knox noted. "They probably can't expect that return, but they would have to consider a strong offer for the impending 2026 free agent, especially if they're below .500 at the deadline."

David Njoku

Interestingly, Knox also floated Njoku as a possible trade target for San Francisco. The 49ers have been without George Kittle since his Week 1 hamstring injury, though the star tight end is expected to return to practice next week and could suit up for the Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

According to Knox, Njoku might be available for a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick. The veteran tight end has remained a steady offensive contributor for Cleveland, but rookie Harold Fannin Jr. has impressed and could be the long-term answer at the position.

"Njoku has caught 20 for 195 and a score," Knox wrote. "While there's value in having two pass-catching tight ends—especially for a team trying to support a young signal-caller—the Browns have to be thinking long-term. Njoku is set to be a free agent in 2026, and Cleveland should be able to get, at worst, a middle-round pick for him."
