As expected, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will return to practice Sunday morning after missing Friday's session for personal reasons. Players had Saturday off, and the team fully anticipated Purdy's return following the break.
Hearing that Brock Purdy is back at 49ers camp and will practice today. He was excused from Friday's work for personal reason, the team said. It was anticipated then that he would miss only the one practice.— Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoNBCS) July 27, 2025
Sunday marks the final non-padded practice before pads come on for Monday's session. Purdy's Friday absence allowed backups Mac Jones and Tanner Mordecai to take additional practice reps on offense.
The 49ers also drafted quarterback Kurtis Rourke in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the rookie started training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list as he continues to recover from ACL surgery performed in January.
Purdy, entering his fourth NFL season, recently signed a five-year, $265 million contract extension, making him one of the league's highest-paid players. He aims to lead the 49ers in a bounce-back campaign after finishing with a 6-11 record in 2024.
