49ers training camp: Key observations from July 24 practice

The San Francisco 49ers held their second training camp practice on Thursday, one of four unpadded sessions to open camp. Social media once again buzzed with updates, giving fans an early glimpse of how the roster is shaping up ahead of the 2025 season.

The 49ers' wide receiver depth continues to be a concern. Brandon Aiyuk is still rehabbing from ACL and MCL injuries, while Jacob Cowing sustained a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice. On the bright side, Ricky Pearsall—who began camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list—is expected to return by Sunday's session.

To help offset the losses, the 49ers signed veteran receivers Equanimeous St. Brown and Quintez Cephus.

Running back Christian McCaffrey, tackle Trent Williams, and defensive end Nick Bosa did not participate in team drills on Wednesday. However, all three were active during Thursday's 11-on-11 session.

Here are the key practice updates as shared across social media.
