49ers Try Out DT Larry Ogunjobi

This is the first reported interest in Ogunjobi since he wrapped up a forgettable 2025 campaign with the Bills. After spending his first eight seasons in the AFC North (four in Cleveland, three in Pittsburgh and one in Cincinnati), Ogunjobi inked a one-year, $8.3MM deal with Buffalo. Two days later, the NFL hit Ogunjobi with a six-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.

Ogunjobi served the ban and debuted with the Bills in Week 8, but he did not make the type of impact the team expected when it signed him. Over 10 games, the 6-foot-2, 305-pounder picked up 19 tackles and four TFL.

Despite logging a 38% defensive snap share, he failed to register a sack or even a quarterback hit for the first time in his career. He topped out in both categories (seven sacks and 16 QB hits) as a member of the Bengals’ AFC championship-winning team in 2021. During his most productive two-year stretch, 2018-19 with the Browns, Ogunjobi averaged 51 tackles, 14 QB hits, 10 TFL and 5.5 sacks per season.

The 32-year-old Ogunjobi is a long way from his heyday, which explains why he has gone unsigned six months since he became a free agent. It is unclear if the 49ers have any interest in bringing him aboard, especially after adding fellow defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson to their practice squad on Wednesday. They also have Sebastian Valdez and Kevin Givens on their practice squad. Osa Odighizuwa, CJ West, Gracen Halton and James Thompson are on the 53-man roster, which lost D–tackle Alfred Collins to a season-ending knee injury in the run-up to Week 1. The 49ers nonetheless held the high-powered Rams to one score in a 27-7 rout.
