The San Francisco 49ers brought in several players for workouts on Wednesday, including a familiar face—running back Jeff Wilson Jr.
According to the NFL transaction wire, which also tracks team tryouts, the 49ers evaluated the following players:
Wilson, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas in 2018, spent his first five seasons with the 49ers before being traded to the Miami Dolphins during the 2022 season. In his time with San Francisco, he recorded 1,733 rushing yards and 19 total touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference.
Over his career, Wilson has amassed 2,370 rushing yards and 23 total touchdowns while recording 585 receiving yards and averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He is preparing to enter his eighth NFL season.
The 49ers are exploring depth options behind star running back Christian McCaffrey, who was limited to just four games last season due to injuries. Isaac Guerendo is expected to serve as McCaffrey's primary backup after a trade sent Jordan Mason to the Minnesota Vikings.
San Francisco invested a fifth-round draft pick in Oregon running back Jordan James. Additionally, undrafted rookie Corey Kiner has emerged as an intriguing prospect during his first NFL offseason.
