The San Francisco 49ers are exploring depth options along their defensive line following multiple injuries. According to the NFL transaction wire, which also tracks player tryouts, the team worked out the following four defensive tackles on Wednesday.
The workouts come as the 49ers deal with depth concerns inside. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens recently sustained a pectoral injury and isn't expected to return until later in the season, while Evan Anderson is recovering from a knee bruise.
Michael Dwumfour – An undrafted free agent out of Rutgers in 2021, Dwumfour has spent time with several teams, including the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and, previously, the 49ers.
Pheldarius Payne – The Virginia Tech product entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and has had stints with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.
Shakel Brown – Undrafted out of Troy in 2023, Brown has played for the Tennessee Titans, 49ers, and Miami Dolphins, and most recently competed for the Houston Roughnecks (UFL) and Edmonton Elks (CFL).
Siaki Ika – A third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2023, Ika also spent parts of the 2024 offseason with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
