49ers WR Deebo Samuel out '10 weeks' with broken foot

On Thursday, the San Francisco 49ers confirmed that wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a broken foot during a Tuesday workout session. The club announced he underwent surgery on his left foot and is expected to miss between 12-16 weeks.

Don't tell that to the 24-year-old, though, who tweeted he's optimistic he can return to fields in 10 weeks:

A second-round draft selection, Samuel produced a solid debut campaign for a 49ers side that surprised critics by winning the NFC Championship and earning a trip to Super Bowl LIV, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Samuel nevertheless made history in the title game, per Yahoo Sports, when he gained 53 yards on the ground. That is the most rushing yards ever tallied by a receiver in a Super Bowl.

In 15 regular-season outings, Samuel accumulated 57 catches, 802 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns.
