  • Four Lions players were honored for their achievements so far this season
  • Two defenders and two offensive players made the cut
  • The Lions have a road game against Cincinnati up next

The Detroit Lions are 3-1 on the season heading into a winnable game on the road against coach Zac Taylor's Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium in 'The Queen City,' giving coach Dan Campbell's team a chance to extend its NFC North Division lead.

The Lions' rough opener against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field has given way to three masterful performances against upper, mid-tier and lower-tier competition (the Ravens, Bears and Browns) leading up to Sunday's game.

On Thursday, the Detroit Lions' official Facebook account broke the news that four Lions players have been given early season 'All-Pro' honors by the popular football ratings site Pro Football Focus.

Branch, Sewell Receive Early Season Honors

The Lions' offense and defense have both performed well at different points of the season which explains the honors revealed on Thursday.

Two Lions offensive players and two Lions defensive players both were named to PFF's 2025 First Quarter All-Pro Team.

The players list includes right tackle Penei Sewell and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on offense and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and strong/free safety Brian Branch on defense.

Sewell was named the NFL's 13th best player overall heading into the season and has continued his defense smashing ways after a rough start against Green Bay and their rush linebacker Micah Parsons in week one.

St. Brown has excelled as a blocker and pass catcher in the Lions' Jared Goff led offense. He has accrued 27 receptions for over 300 yards and six touchdowns so far in four games and was chosen by former NFL coach and Barstool Sports personality Jon Gruden as the one receiver he would pick if starting a team from scratch, a testament to his all-around skills.

Hutchinson has recovered from a broken leg suffered last season to regain his Defensive Player of the Year worthy self on the field.

The versatile former number two overall pick has four sacks, six solo tackles and two forced fumbles so far this season with the Lions.

Branch has 18 solo tackles, five pass break-ups and a forced fumble. He has also stuffed ball carriers at the line of scrimmage three times this season and has yet to record an interception after notching four last season and three in his rookie season with Detroit.

Lions Set to Tangle With Bengals

The Lions have a road game against Jake Browning and the Bengals this weekend that is by all accounts expected to be a slam dunk win for the Lions.

The Bengals' offense was shut down last week but still boasts playmakers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins with Browning mired in a slump.

Browning has the talent to pull himself, and his team out of it, but the Lions' defense will have plenty to say about whether that happens or not in a game that could be much closer than the experts think.
