The Cleveland Browns are 2-6 with rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders looking to get reps on the field. Gabriel has been the starting quarterback over the previous month, and despite being a hyped prospect, Sanders is yet to see his first NFL action since the preseason.
One former NFL Pro Bowler discussed the situation of the Cleveland Browns and how he thinks there is some adversity between the coaching staff and the fifth-round rookie.
On a recent “The Arena Gridiron” show, former offensive lineman Richie Incognito discussed how he does not believe that coach Kevin Stefanski likes Shedeur Sanders.
“This situation stinks. There’s some bulls--- going on right now. They won’t name [Shedeur Sanders] the backup a couple of weeks ago. Then we have a mysterious back injury… Ownership has been a mess. This was clearly Jimmy Haslam’s pick. Clearly, [coach] Stefanski hates Sheduer.”
Incognito has been a four-time Pro Bowl left guard throughout his 13-year career. He played for four teams during that span, meaning he has experience with different personalities on the football field as well as a unique insight into situations similar to what the Browns are dealing with.
Sanders has not seen the field so far this season and was ruled out last week’s game with a back injury. Starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel has struggled throughout the season since taking over as the starting quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see how the team addresses the future of the quarterback position going forward as they enter their bye week.
