5 Dallas Cowboys predictions that will come true before the 2025 NFL season kicks off including All-Pro reunion

This is the exact time of the year where, with no practices to monitor or follow closely, we football fans get our imagination going.

That's why I've done some thinking about what could happen between today and the start of the Dallas Cowboys' 2025 season. It's my pleasure to tell you I've got five predictions listed below that will come true before the NFL Kickoff.

And we're kicking things off with some contractual thoughts.

1. Micah Parsons becomes the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history

This is the easiest one, isn't it? Sure the Parsons negotiations are getting dramatic lately but let's be honest: This is how the Cowboys do business.

They did it with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb last year. I find it exhausting but part of that is that I know the ending to the movie. The final scene of this one will be Parsons smiling wide and putting ink to paper.

My prediction for the numbers: 5-year deal, $210 million, $42 million average per year.

2. Cowboys reunite with All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore

Do you know that scene from The Office where Jim and Pam are secretly dating and Kevin knows all about it? Well, I'm Kevin in this scenario. Gilmore was at The Star in April leading up to the Draft, for crying out loud. Sure, they portrayed it as "not a free agent visit" but. . . I mean, come on!

In all seriousness, a reunion makes sense. The Cowboys have a clear need at cornerback and bringing in Gilmore simply makes too much sense. He'd be an upgrade over Kaiir Elam—who I'd project to start outside Week 1—or worst case scenario, much needed depth while Trevon Diggs is out.

3. Cowboys sign a defensive tackle but not a great one

I could see the Cowboys doing the same thing they did in 2024. Hit us with a couple of defensive tackle signings in the middle of the preseason. Last year it was Jordan Phillips and Linval Joseph.

Heck, this season they could go for the same players as they remain available. That being said, there's not anyone you could consider game-changing in free agency as of right now. People have discussed a potential trade for somebody like the Lions' D.J. Reader and that would be great. But chances are the Cowboys bring in someone for depth and not much more.

4. Joe Milton wows in the preseason

Milton is the locker room leader to back up Dak Prescott and like Trey Lance, he'll be the story of the Cowboys preseason. Unlike Lance, my money is on him being a pleasant surprise to the NFL world.

He's had ups and downs in practice but he's been accurate if you're into practice stats. Those don't mean much but I've got Milton building on that solid Week 18 performance he put together in his final game with the New England Patriots.

5. Brevyn Spann-Ford overtakes Luke Schoonmaker as TE2

A clear winner from OTAs and minicamp was former UDFA tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford. After flashing as a rookie last year, Schottenheimer said of his offseason: "He's already made the jump. You asked me how I feel about it, he's already made the jump."

"He had an incredible offseason, he really did," Schottenheimer said of Spann-Ford. "The size alone, he moves really well. (. . .) This guy is not just a run blocker and a pass protector. This guy can be a weapon because of his size in the middle of the field, matched up on linebackers and safeties."

That sounds like Jake Ferguson's No. 2. Not the TE3 with special teams snaps.
