5 Lions predictions that will come true before the 2025 season, Detroit parts ways with multiple recent draft picks

We have 76 days until the Detroit Lions head to Lambeau Field to kick off the 2025 season against the Green Bay Packers. A lot could happen in the next 76 days, and I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is with these five predictions. Let's jump right in.

Za'Darius Smith comes back

It's not inside info or anything that I'm hearing from sources, it's just good old-fashioned confidence. That and the fact that he's telling everyone who will listen that he wants to be back.

The prediction is that this gets done maybe midway through training camp. It's all going to come down to the Lions and Smith agreeing to a salary that's good for both parties, and they have more than enough time to do it.

Isaac TeSlaa supplants Tim Patrick for the WR3 spot

I love Tim Patrick, and I don't think this prediction means that he's not going to be with the Lions in 2025. But at the end of the day, with TeSlaa you get a guy who's running at top speed still and brings an added bonus to the table. Stretch the field as much as you can.

He also has the ability to go up and get those contested catches in the end zone, and that just makes the Lions even more dangerous in the red zone.

Jackson Meeks is the fan favorite UDFA

Last season, everyone loved Isaiah Williams, and there was good reason for that. He had a strong summer that made him the highlight of all three preseason games. He wound up making the 53-man roster because of it. Sadly, the Lions had to make room later in the year, and now he's with the Bengals.

I'm predicting that Meeks has a similar summer, and everyone loves the fact that this guy can make some really nice contested catches, and he is not an easy tackle.

The Lions add another quarterback

I'm really putting my neck out there on this one, but I think by mid-camp the Lions will realize that they still have some struggles with Hendon Hooker and Kyle Allen. It's OTAs, but it wasn't a good sign that these guys were showing the same issues they've been showing.

If it were up to me, the Lions would be the team that gives UFL MVP and Michigan Panthers quarterback Bryce Perkins a shot. We'll see what happens.

The Lions part ways with multiple recent draft picks

This is a big summer for a few guys to prove they belong in Detroit or move on to their next homes. Ultimately, the deck is really stacked against guys like Brodric Martin, Colby Sorsdal, and Dominic Lovett. All three guys are buried pretty deep on the depth chart as of right now.

There's a chance that one or all three of them could have big-time summers and stick around, but right now we're predicting they're playing for different teams by Week 1.
