It’s official: quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not return to the New York Jets. Despite an up-and-down 2024 season, Rodgers should see plenty of interest from around the league from QB-needy teams looking for a stopgap at the position.
Our analyst Wendell Ferreira threw together a list of five teams to watch for Rodgers heading into the offseason. Some highlights from his piece:
Pittsburgh Steelers: “This is the most likely option at this point. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both free agents in 2025, so the Steelers will really need to look at their avenues to acquire a quarterback. Maybe Wilson wants to stay, but he would certainly be much more expensive than he was in 2024.”
Minnesota Vikings: “Sam Darnold will be a free agent, and there's no certainty about his future. J.J. McCarthy theoretically is the future in Minnesota, but he is recovering from a serious knee injury and had what can be considered a setback recently. If general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell want another short-term option, Rodgers can give it to them — and pairing him with a strong offensive line and a great receiving core has some potential.”
Tennessee Titans: “The Titans' experiment with Will Levis has failed, and the team has multiple avenues to find a successor. The most obvious one is the first overall pick in the draft. However, the 2025 class is considered weak. This brings to the table more than one possibility. The Titans might get a player from another position, trade down, or even take a quarterback to develop with a veteran as a bridge. In these scenarios, Rodgers would be a solid alternative to play right away.”
New York Giants: “The leadership structure in New York needs quick answers after it failed with Daniel Jones. With the Giants, Aaron Rodgers would have a new opportunity to succeed in the New York market, and it's fair to think that the team would give him some power to bring in guys with whom he would like to play. It's not exactly a win-now situation either, but at this point Rodgers will have limited options.”
Las Vegas Raiders: “This is another scenario where the roster isn't very good, but head coach Pete Carroll secures a level of competency that's not easy to replicate in the NFL. Owner Mark Davis would be happy with this splash after starting Gardner Minshew in 2024. It's weird to think that Davante Adams could return to the Raiders after what happened over the past two years, but Rodgers in Las Vegas would be a realistic outcome.”
This year’s QB class from the 2025 NFL Draft is a bit polarizing. Some believe this class has talent and potential, while others conclude that it’s a weak class that lacks upside. The truth is the answer usually lies somewhere in the middle, and odds are at least QB from the class could break out.
Now that all 32 teams are officially in draft mode, our guy Ryan Roberts put together a list of superlatives for this upcoming QB class, highlighting the QB with the strongest arm, highest upside, highest floor and more. Some highlights below:
STRONGEST ARM: Cameron Ward (Miami): “Ward simply can make some throws that no other quarterback in this class can make. In terms of distance and velocity, the former Incarnate Word, Washington State, and Miami star makes things look very easy. Ward’s release quickness and ability to throw from different arm slots is something to behold. He is the modern passer with arm talent for days.”

HIGHEST UPSIDE: Jalen Milroe (Alabama): “You could have made a strong argument for Ward again, and it’s completely understandable if he was your selection. In terms of raw tools, it’s hard to argue against Milroe. His combination of arm strength and athleticism is really impressive. It’s just too bad playing the quarterback position is about a lot more than just those raw tools.”
HIGHEST FLOOR: Shedeur Sanders (Colorado): “From an accuracy perspective, you won’t find anyone as good as Sanders in this class. He also showed an improved internal clock in 2024, as well as better pocket awareness. While Sanders’ tools are very, very average for league standard, you can expect him to at least be a solid NFL signal caller. The floor is high.”
