6-2 Giants snubbed in recent NFC East predictions

The 6-2 New York Giants continue to fly under the figurative radar.

For a piece published on the NFL's website on Wednesday, 23 different NFL media members predicted that the 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles will go on to win the NFC East title. The 6-2 Dallas Cowboys received the other two votes, meaning nobody among the 25 analysts asked believe the Giants or 4-5 Washington Commanders will finish Week 18 atop the division standings.

"As the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t shown any signs of slowing down soon," Nick Shook of the league's website explained about his choice. "Their schedule sets up nicely in the next month, and with one win over Dallas already in their pocket, the Eagles have every reason to believe the NFC East is theirs -- and perhaps much more."

The Giants have only lost to the Cowboys in Week 3 and the 6-3 Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 this season. Big Blue is coming off its bye and hosts the 1-6-1 Houston Texans this Sunday before it plays another home game against the Detroit Lions (2-6) on Nov. 20. Logic suggests the Giants should be favorites to get to 8-2 on the campaign before a pivotal Thanksgiving Day showdown at the Cowboys.

New York hosts the Eagles in Week 14 and then plays at Philadelphia in Week 18.

Perhaps the most worrisome stat regarding the Giants is that they're 29th in passing and averaging just 159.1 yards in the air per game, according to ESPN numbers. Meanwhile, the Eagles are second in scoring with an average of 28.1 points per contest.

Philadelphia hosts Washington this coming Monday night.
