6-round Detroit Lions mock draft, The Lions have been basically telling us who they like the whole time

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Detroit Lions walked out with defensive tackle Tyleik Williams from Ohio State.

The Lions had a formal meeting with Williams at the NFL Combine and then had him out for a Top-30 visit. In the past few years, the Lions have picked a lot of players that they've had these meetings with, and it sort of occurred to us that maybe the Lions are just kind of telling us who they like.

So with that in mind, we're going to put this six-round mock draft together with some of those guys.

We know that the Lions are looking to get younger at receiver and they're looking for someone who can be more of an X receiver who can go up and get the contested catches and high point the ball. Ayomanor can be that guy for the Lions with the 60th pick.

They had a formal meeting with him at the combine, and he was coached by new Lions passing game coordinator David Shaw. This is a really good fit for Detroit. Even if it means they have to push the edge off a little more.

During Stewart's pro day, he said the Lions were one of the handful of teams that just kept reaching out to him. We know they had him out for a top-30, and there were virtual visits as well. This one just keeps making more sense with every passing hour.

Stewart is coming off a strong year at Michigan with 37 pressures and nine sacks. He's also a really good run-stopping edge as well. He had 13 tackles for loss last year. He just fits.

At some point, the Lions have to replace Taylor Decker, and maybe they might be moving Giovanni Manu to guard. So then that opens up the need to find that future left tackle right now. Belton could be that guy. He had a top-30 visit with Detroit.

Belton had a strong showing in 2024, allowing 12 pressures and three sacks, while putting up an 87.3 pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus. He could use a little work in the run game, but everything else you want is there.

The Lions sure do love them some linebackers, don't they? How about a guy who had multiple pre-draft visits with them and went to high school just down the street at Cass Tech?

He had 74 tackles, three sacks, and an interception for the Nittany Lions last year. Not bad for a sixth-round pick.

The Lions being in the market for a tight end shouldn't be surprising. Hawes is a classic tight end in the sense that this guy is block first and he blocks his butt off.

He just reminds me so much of Dan Campbell, too. The guy who is on the field looking to hit someone, even though the ball carrier is on the other side of the field. Plus, the Lions did meet with him at the Combine.

This guy was just so good last year, and the Lions had him in for a top-30 as well. There's some interest there for sure. You can say that maybe they could just wait and try to grab him as an undrafted free agent, but why risk it when you have a pick this low?

Larison brings versatility, and while he was primarily a running back at UC-Davis, he probably makes more sense as a receiver who can do things as a ball carrier sometimes. He's like the next logical step once Kalif Ramond is no longer in Detroit.
