There is no love lost between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans. The two sides have had many battles over the years, creating one of the top rivalries in the AFC South. You won't hear fans give many compliments to the people on the other side of the rivalry. However, a former NFL player who got to experience this rivalry up close just shared a massive compliment about the Colts fan base, even though they were the enemy during his career.

Taylor Lewan spent all nine years of his NFL career with the Titans after the franchise selected him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He went head-to-head with the Colts 11 times in total in his career and finished with a 5-6 record against the team. He noticed something interesting about the fan base as a player on the other sideline. “I have never played in a stadium that has more well-trained fans than Lucas Oil Stadium,” said Lewan.
Lewan credited Peyton Manning for his time there, stating that you never hear the crowd when the Colts were on offense, saying, “you could hear a pin drop.” He then noted that the fan base is “so smart” and “they probably understand the game more than any other fan base.” Hearing this type of compliment from a player who spent his entire career with the Titans was beyond shocking.
Colts fans should take a lot of pride in hearing these kind words. It's easy for fans to get too involved on game day and, as a result, actually hurt their favorite team. Anyone who has ever watched a game at Lucas Oil Stadium has experienced what Lewan is speaking about. If you hear fans start to cheer while the Colts are on offense, fans around them will quickly correct them. Manning truly trained Colts fans well, and it's cool to hear even opposing teams' players have taken notice.
