A Colts player gave credit to an unexpected hobby for a highlight reel play he made earlier this season

Nick Cross gives credit to the Madden video game for his crazy interception vs. Chargers QB Justin Herbert

Late in the second quarter, the Colts led the Chargers 20-3, but QB Justin Herbert and Los Angeles’ offense were knocking on the door for their first touchdown of the day. Cross miraculously prevented that, though, with an unreal one-handed interception in the endzone. The Colts' safety was asked about that play by Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams show”, and he shared that his hobby of playing Madden played a factor.

“People are going to laugh when I say this, but I play a lot of Madden,” shared Cross. “When they ran a certain play, I was like I've seen this play before.” Cross read Herbert like a book, blanketed the Chargers WR, and came away with a one-handed interception. The Colts went on to win the game 38-24, but anyone who watched the game knew they dominated the Chargers from the opening kickoff to the final whistle. 

Cross is currently playing out the final year of his rookie contract and will need a new contract before 2026. Only time will tell if Cross remains with the Colts, but he's doing everything he can to prove he is a key member of this defense. He's having the best season of his career, and whether he's back with the Colts or elsewhere, he should have a solid payday coming this offseason.
