The deadline to trim the roster to 53 players was today at 1 p.m. MST. Some additional notes from the latest release of cuts:

  • The most notable names cut who were not previously reported were RB Michael Carter and LB Krys Barnes. It was reported that QB Desmond Ridder would be waived earlier today, leaving Clayton Tune as the lone backup behind Kyler Murray.
  • With Robinson and Christian Jones on the injured reserve list with a designation to return, the Cardinals can sign two additional players.
  • The team went with five safeties, rewarding the play of Darren Hall this preseason, and only three inside linebackers.
  • The Cardinals also kept Travis Vokelek at the tight end position behind their top-3 tight ends of Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman. Tight end Sage Surratt will revert to the injured reserve if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

It’s also important to note that the Cardinals could not be done making moves, as they are fourth in waivers until Week 4. This means they have the fourth-highest priority on any player they place a claim on behind the Carolina Panthers (1), Washington Commanders (2) and New England Patriots (3). Initial waiver claims will be released Wednesday afternoon.

Arizona will also have to sign 17 players to its practice squad.

The Cardinals open the season on Sept. 8 on the road against the Buffalo Bills.
