A recent trend in the NFL points towards Colts QB Daniel Jones having his best game yet in Week 9 vs. the Steelers

The Indianapolis Colts offense stayed hot in Week 8 as they took down their AFC South rivals , the Tennessee Titans, 38-14. They improved to 7-1 on the year and again showed themselves as one of the top offenses in the NFL. Next up, they hit the road to take on the 4-3 Pittsburgh Steelers, who have lost two straight. And a recent trend with their defense could bode well for Colts QB Daniel Jones.

Steelers recent struggles vs. QBs

Daniel Jones could be in store for a big day against a struggling Steelers pass defense

The last four QBs that have faced th Steelers have set their season high for passing yards. Three of the four have thrown for over 300 yards. The only one who didn't was Browns rookie Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel threw for 221 yards in his fourth start of his NFL career. That was his first 200+ yard passing game in the NFL, and he hasn’t been able to reach that threshold since. Jones’ season high came in their Week 2 win vs. the Denver Broncos. He threw for 316 yards, his only game with over 300 passing yards this season.

The Colts' offense has been just about unstoppable this season. They lead the NFL in total points through eight weeks with 270. And they have a top 5 passing and rushing attack thanks to the strong play of Jones and Jonathan Taylor . Head coach Shane Steichen has adjusted their offensive game plan each week to exploit the weaknesses of their specific opponent. With the Steelers' secondary playing so poorly, I expect a heavy dosage of Jones and the Colts' passing attack. And with the Colts' abundance of different weapons on offense, it'll be interesting to see what a creative mind like Steichen’s can come up with.
