A red flag has popped up for Browns’ Myles Garrett and it looks worse because it’s the same thing that keeps coming up

It was nearly three years ago that Cleveland Browns star DE Myles Garrett flipped his Porsche while speeding in Northeast Ohio. At the time, Garrett said it would be a wake-up call for him.

“This will definitely be a wake-up call for me—just try to be smart overall with driving,” Garrett said back in September of 2022. “Don’t take anything for granted. Be grateful that I’m still able to be here and just take my time.”

Flash forward to August of 2025, and Garrett is again in the news for the wrong reasons. The former Defensive Player of the Year has once again had a run-in with law enforcement due to his driving.

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett accused of driving 100 MPH following first preseason game

On Saturday at 2:01 a.m. ET, Garrett was cited by Strongsville police for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to police records. He was issued a $250 ticket, which he can pay to waive his appearance in court. The Browns had arrived back in Cleveland after 1 a.m., and Garrett was believed to be driving home at the time.

This marks the eighth time Garrett has been cited for speeding since being drafted into the NFL in 2017. The Browns are said to be aware of the incident.

Garrett is not the first Browns player to face speeding charges recently—Shedeur Sanders was issued a pair of tickets back in June. The last time Cleveland’s best player was involved in a speeding incident, he suffered a sprained left shoulder and an eye injury after flipping his car. This time, he’ll lose a bit of cash, but it should still serve as another reminder that his driving habits need to change.

Cleveland will travel to Philadelphia on Tuesday for two days of joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday with the Eagles. The Browns will have their second preseason game on Saturday and it would be a surprise if Garrett plays even before the speeding ticket.
