The hits just keep on coming for the Miami Dolphins during what's been a very forgettable offseason. The latest is the alleged desire of former All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to be traded, which he and the Dolphins are apparently exploring.
That of course begs the next question: where could Ramsey end up? If it's up to the elite defender, that could be in up Atlanta. Or at least that's where Ramsey appears to be pleased with the man in charge.
Ramsey thumbed out a tweet back in January of 2024 praising Falcons head coach Raheem Morris shortly after the news of Morris' hire by Atlanta.
Falcons got one of, if not the best coach in the NFL forreal! https://t.co/p24Q6U8aJv
— Jalen Ramsey (@jalenramsey) January 25, 2024
Morris and Ramsey have a championship background together on the West Coast. Morris was the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams from 2021-23 after serving in the same role the previous year in Atlanta. With Ramsey and Aaron Donald spearheading his defense, Morris authored a defense that helped the Rams bring home the franchise's first Super Bowl since 1999-00.
Morris was hired as the Falcons head coach in January of last year. However, a late-season swoon saw the Falcons yield the division to the Bucs for the latter's fourth straight division crown. Atlanta has one established starting cornerback in A.J. Terrell, but the starter on the other side, Mike Hughes, has allowed a career 108.2 pass rating across 7 seasons.
The Falcons would have to get creative financially, as they currently have $10.1 million in cap space, per OverTheCap.com, which is the fifth fewest amount in the NFL. But if they can find a way, it sure seems like Ramsey would be playing for a head coach who knows him well and got the most out of him during their previous time together.
