Aaron Donald has made his comeback decision

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Donald is signing a one-year deal worth $20 million, which could rise to $30 million with incentives. Schefter adds that the Rams were starting to doubt whether Donald planned to return after he left the team’s facility today without informing them of a decision.

Donald first hinted at a comeback in June when the Rams swung a trade for Myles Garrett. While he gave a number of signals that he was seriously considering it, he has been largely silent in the two months since, and training camp passed without an announcement. There were some indications that even the Rams themselves were starting to lose hope of a return.

Donald has already cemented himself as one of the best defensive players in NFL history. He had 111 sacks in the first ten years of his career before initially retiring after the 2023 season. He still kept in shape, however, and there had been persistent comeback rumors dating back to 2024.

The Rams now boast a defensive front featuring Donald, Garrett, Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, Kobie Turner, and Byron Young. They are absolutely loaded and will be a Super Bowl favorite.
