Buckle up, New York Jets fans.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that he plans to play the team’s starters in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers.
“We’re playing,” Glenn said. “I can’t tell you how much guys are going to play, that’s going to factor about how the game goes, but we’re playing.”

“Because I want to play. That’s the reason.”
New York will take on the Packers at Lambeau Field at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. It will mark the unofficial start of the Aaron Glenn-Darren Mougey era in New York, which fans are hoping will feature more than the 19 victories that Robert Saleh produced over three-plus seasons as the Jets’ head coach.
On the quest to reaching those new heights, the hope is that Glenn’s revitalized approach will set a new standard within the organization. With increased physicality at practice, less drama in the media, and an emphasis on accountability, there are new expectations being placed upon the Jets’ players.
Glenn is focused on winning every day, no matter the circumstances.
“Every game matters; we wanna win,” said Glenn, further explaining his decision to play the starters on Saturday.

Despite his consistency of telling the world he is not Bill Parcells, that doesn’t mean he can’t be likeminded in certain ways. Remember, Tuna was a guy who played to win in the preseason, and he thought it mattered.
This means that Jets fans will likely get their first glimpse at starting quarterback Justin Fields. The former 11th overall pick has endured a rocky training camp thus far, but appeared to build momentum in Thursday’s practice, which he hopes to translate to his preseason debut.
