Aaron Glenn seemingly makes embarrassing game management error

New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn is once again facing questions about his game management based on an interview he gave to start the second half of Sunday’s game.

Glenn’s Jets trailed the New England Patriots 17-3 at halftime of Sunday’s game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. In his halftime interview with CBS, Glenn expressed confidence that his team would get back into the game because the Jets would have the first possession of the second half.

“The good thing is, we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish,” Glenn said.

There was just one problem: the Patriots started the second half with possession, not the Jets. New York had the first possession of the game and got a field goal out of it.

Perhaps Glenn meant to suggest that his defense needed to get the ball back, but that is not what it sounded like. The quote opened Glenn up to widespread criticism that he was unaware of a pretty basic game situation at a time when there was no excuse for it.

This is a particularly bad look for Glenn after he was seemingly caught falling asleep at the NFL Combine. Between that and his poor on-field record, there are some observers who are starting to lose patience with him and calling for a coaching change.
