Aaron Jones has strong words for those who counted the Packers out
Aaron Jones (33) Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Jones remembers. After twelve games, the Green Bay Packers were 4-8 with about a 1% chance to make the playoffs. Now, they are 8-8, and if they win against the Detroit Lions next weekend, they will be playoff bound. After the Packers’ 41-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings, running back Aaron Jones was asked what he had to say to the people who counted the Packers out. His answer: “They don’t know how to count.”

Aaron Jones dashed the Vikings defense

Aaron Jones lit up the Vikings defense, rushing for 111 yards on just 14 carries. During the game, Jones eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards on the season. This is his third 1,000-yard season in the past four years. Last season, Jones rushed for 799 yards in 15 games. AJ Dillon was the team’s leading rusher last year with 803 rushing yards.

Aaron Jones among NFL rushing leaders

Despite many games in which he did not get many touches, Aaron Jones is still statistically one of the best running backs in the NFL. His 111 yards against the Vikings gave him 1,073 on the season. This total is good for ninth in the NFL. Among running backs, it ranks eighth. Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is sixth in the NFL with 1,143 rushing yards.

The NFL’s leaders in rushing yards per attempt are mostly quarterbacks. Fields leads the NFL with 7.1 yards per carry. He followed by Lamar Jackson (6.8), Josh Allen (6.5), and Daniel Jones (5.9). The next player on the list is Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert who has 5.7 yards per carry on 119 carries. Aaron Jones comes in sixth with 5.3 yards per carry on 201 carries.

What may be surprising to many is that Aaron Jones is also among the NFL leaders in yards per game. As mentioned previously, Jones has not always gotten the number of carries that many believe he should. That being said, Jones is averaging 67.1 yards per game. That total is the ninth highest in the NFL.
