Aaron Jones says the Packers are ‘gonna be special’ in 2024 and beyond
? Mark Hoffman / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is excited about the future of the team. After all, the Packers came on strong in the second half of the season and nearly were able to upset the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

Jones explained that the feeling around the team is special and that there’s no reason why the Packers can’t reach their goals both in 2024 and beyond.

“I feel like what we’re building here is special,” Aaron Jones said. “You can feel it. You can see it. The chemistry, the bond, the standard that we’ve set. I feel like with the standard we’ve set, we know what our expectations are when we come back next year. Our standard is high. We have no reason not to reach that standard every day because we’ve shown that we can do it this year, and we’ve shown we can do it game after game after game, we can put it together. I feel like we’re gonna be dangerous. We’re gonna be special.”

The Green Bay Packers finished the 2023 season 9-8 and made the playoffs as a wildcard team. They then surprised the Dallas Cowboys, upsetting them, before giving San Francisco all it could handle.

“This is a special team, [as] special [a] group of guys that I’ve been around,” Jones said. “We defied expectations. Nobody thought we would even be in the playoffs, let alone the second round of the playoffs. I feel like it was a great building block for us.”

Ultimately, Aaron Jones was a huge part of Green Bay’s success. This season, he played in 11 games, rushing for 656 and two touchdowns. In particular, he thrived during the playoffs, despite it being his seventh season as a running back.

“I guess I’m aging like wine,” Jones said. “I’m only getting better with time. I feel like I’m just stepping into my prime.”

Green Bay Packers fire strength and conditioning coach Chris Gizzi

The Green Green Bay Packers are making a big move following the 2023-24 season, moving on from strength and conditioning coach Chris Gizzi.

“We appreciate Chris for his dedication and contributions to our success over his time with the Packers. We wish Chris and his family the best moving forward,” head coach Matt LaFleur said in a statement.

During his playing career, Gizzi spent time as a linebacker for the Packers. He has also been on the team’s strength staff for the last 10 seasons, the last five of which saw him take over the coordinator role.
