When it comes to drafting running backs in fantasy football, it’s not just about drafting the biggest names but also knowing which lower-ranked running backs will fall down the draft board that have upside. That’s why Aaron Jones is a name to keep in mind. He may be going into his tenth season and doesn’t always lead in running back categories, but he is still a threat to hit 100 yards each game.

Aaron Jones Sr. 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production

Compared to other running backs like Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry, Jones’ stat sheet from 2024 looks a little small. He only had three games where he scored less than 10 fantasy points. Conversely, he only had two big games where he rushed for over 100 yards.

The rest of the 2024 season saw Jones turn in lots of solid performances; not many huge games, but not many bad ones either. The Vikings probably would have enjoyed more touchdowns than the five Aaron Jones had on the season, but it’s also impressive that Jones still played well despite not seeing the endzone too often.

The reason why Aaron Jones is a name to look out for is not that he’s going to necessarily pop off in 2025, but that he will fall down the draft board into late rounds. His current ADP is 56 overall, so not too many drafters are wasting an early-round pick on Jones. In most cases, teams are going to fill out their first running back slots and focus on other positions for about the first eight or nine rounds of the draft.

This is why Aaron Jones can be considered a sleeper because he is great value for a player who could fall down the draft board. Once the draft gets to the later rounds, it will be hard to find a primary running back who gets most of the carries on his team, which makes Jones a late-round priority.
