Aaron Rodgers admits people want to see him play, even if they hate him: 'We are must-watch TV'
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have six prime-time games this season, the most along with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. There is no doubt that there is a lot of hype surrounding the team this season as Aaron Rodgers returns from his horrific Achilles injury. The NFL knows that the storyline surrounding the Jets is enough to garner millions of viewers week after week.

Aaron Rodgers understands that the New York Jets are one of the hottest teams to watch this season. The quarterback believes the team is hard to not watch, in his latest interview on Mad Dog Radio on SiriusXM.

We are must-watch TV...Whether you love me or hate me, people want to see me play. Aaron Rodgers said

He absolutely got that right. The New York Jets will be closely watched this season, a double-edged sword for the team as the expectations to perform have never been higher. This will be Rodgers’ first full-season with the team and the notion in New York is Super Bowl or bust.

The New York Jets roster is handpicked by Aaron Rodgers

The four-time MVP has had complete autonomy with respect to picking the roster of the Jets. The front office of the team listened to him and catered to all of his demands. It was on his insistence that they brought offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett aboard despite his horrific showing with the Denver Broncos.

The New York Jets went on to draft an offensive tackle Olu Fashanu in the first round to ensure the offensive line is capable of protecting Rodgers. The majority of their picks were to reinforce the offense, the other notable picks were wideout Malachi Corley , RB Braelon Allen , QB Jordan Travis , and RB Isaiah Davis .

It is clear that the quarterback is embracing the six prime-time games this season, an unexpected move by the NFL that opted to give the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs five prime-time games. If the Jets fail to live up to the hype this year, the NFL is not going to grant them an opportunity to get featured on so many prime time games next year. Judging by Rodgers’ mindset and the optimism in New York, the belief is that the team is well on its way to make it to the Super Bowl.
