The Pittsburgh Steelers spent their offseason waiting on Aaron Rodgers to sign.
Luckily for them, he eventually did. It was certainly a gamble, however, as they would have been mildly stuck if the Steelers had not been able to land him. The whole saga has left the Steelers and Rodgers with some critics, one of which being a Steelers great.
Terry Bradshaw has been outspoken about how the Steelers have been run for years, and gave Rodgers criticism in May, saying the signing was a "joke" and not finding a reason for the one-year deal. He also said that Rodgers should stay in California, and told him to "chew bark".
Now, Rodgers has taken to responding to Bradshaw's May criticism. Rodgers has not been one to shy away from the media, and took to NFL Network to respond to his comments directly.
"I whisper to the gods every single day," Rodgers said. "I've known Terry for a long time being a part of FOX. Terry's a legend. He's an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He's had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn't know me. And so he's got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I've done.
"I'd love to get to know Terry on a deeper level. And I feel like if he gave me a chance to get to know him, we'd have a good friendship. Because for me I have nothing but the utmost respect and deference for what the greats have done. So I'd love to get to know Terry on a deeper level if he's open to it, and maybe we can go chew some bark, or whatever the hell he's talking about, together."
Rodgers believes that he has been misunderstood by Bradshaw, and wants to talk to him directly. He will surely get the opportunity to do so as he leads the Steelers into the coming season as the starting quarterback.
