Rodgers fuels retirement, relationship rumors with IG post
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Rodgers may or may not be entering a transitional period in his life, but the Green Bay Packers star sure has ignited a firestorm of speculation.

Rodgers, who is rarely active on social media, took to Instagram late Monday night with what he described as some “#MondayNightGratitude.” The NFL MVP shared several photos that showed him with his teammates, friends and (ex?) girlfriend Shailene Woodley. Rodgers first began by thanking Woodley.

“@shailenewoodly, thanks for letting me chase after you the first couple months after we met, and finally letting me catch up to you and be a part of your life,” Rodgers said. “Thanks for always having my back, for the incredible kindness you show me and everyone you meet, and for showing me what unconditional love looks like, I love you and am grateful for you.”

That part was interesting enough. There have been multiple reports that Rodgers and Woodley recently called off their engagement and split. Was that the quarterback’s way of saying farewell? Have he and Woodley reconciled? Were they never broken up to begin with? No one really knows.

Rodgers then went on to thank Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and several others coaches and teammates. Many felt that the post read like Rodgers is either planning to leave Green Bay for another team or retire. You can see the full post below.

It’s possible Rodgers was simply reflecting on 2021. If you really want to put your detective hat on, you might find it noteworthy that he wrote about Woodley in the present tense and the Packers in the past tense. We will have more answers soon enough.

Rodgers has not yet announced whether he will remain with the Packers, ask for a trade, or retire. All signs point to him being on solid ground with everyone in Green Bay.

As for Rodgers’ engagement, there was one seemingly clear sign recently that the breakup reports are true.
