Aaron Rodgers has a bold take on the Jets’ primetime schedule

The New York Jets are built for primetime — at least, according to the team’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets were lumped in with the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers as the only three teams in the NFL with six primetime games for the upcoming 2024 season.

While the Cowboys and 49ers finished with identical 12-5 records, the Jets were 7-10 following Rodgers’ season-ending Week 1 injury.

Rodgers during a recent appearance on SiriusXM Radio was asked about the Jets’ primetime-heavy slate. Rodgers not only welcomed the extra attention but also called it “pretty obvious” that his team belongs on national TV.

“I love it. I love it. I mean, we are must-watch TV,” Rodgers told radio host Adam Schein. “And that’s pretty obvious. Everybody knows that. Whether you love me or hate me, people wanna see me play. They enjoy watching me play. And we are a team to watch this year. Not surprising. Six primetime games in the first 11 or 12 weeks. I love it.”

Rodgers recently scoffed at the idea that the Jets “owe” the NFL after last year’s down season. The NFL also heavily featured the Jets in primetime last season, which backfired spectacularly once Rodgers got injured.

The NFL has since doubled down on their Jets-themed scheduling wager. Whether the gamble pays dividends for the league this time around remains to be seen.
