Aaron Rodgers has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He inked a $13 million deal this weekend and will start getting to know his teammates immediately. Once he officially signed, fans everywhere started licking their chops for the matchups this season. It starts in week 1 when Rodgers will face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. However, the most intriguing matchup comes against the Green Bay Packers in week 8 on Sunday Night Football. The four-time MVP can make NFL history, doing something that very few quarterbacks have done.
Not many quarterbacks have beaten all 32 teams in the NFL. Part of this is due to scheduling. If a player spends most of his career in one conference, there are limited opportunities to play teams from the other conference. Furthermore, many quarterbacks don’t have the longevity in their careers to beat every team. The most common reason for not beating every team is that it is hard to beat the team you play for.
The Green Bay Packers are the only team that Aaron Rodgers has not beaten. If he picks up a victory in week 8 against his former team, he will be one of only five quarterbacks to beat every team. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre are the only other quarterbacks in NFL history to accomplish this feat. There are plenty of intriguing matchups for Aaron Rodgers this year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the AFC North play the NFC North this year. This means Aaron Rodgers will take on the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears in 2025. He is 59-25-1 against his old division, and he famously bragged that he owned the Bears after scoring a touchdown in a game. Rodgers will get a chance to continue that ownership in week 13 when he travels to Chicago.
It remains to be seen whether Aaron Rodgers has anything left in the tank. He showed flashes last season with the Jets, but there was so much dysfunction that it’s hard to know what was the fault of the quarterback and what was the fault of the franchise. However, regardless of how he plays, all of these matchups will be fun to watch. Can he make NFL history, or will his former team spoil it?
