Aaron Rodgers has great reaction to Jets' win over Broncos, Sean Payton

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is among players associated with the New York Jets enjoying somewhat of a last laugh related to Sunday's 31-21 win at the Denver Broncos. Head coach Sean Payton infamously ripped Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett during the offseason.

"I loved every minute of it," Rodgers said about the victory during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," per Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post. "One of the coolest things was watching the end of that game to see how people love Nathaniel so much. Yeah, he’s not going to be making a big deal about it, but he’s a man. And those comments were horses--- in the beginning of the season, and we all wanted that for him for sure. So, I’m really, really happy for him."

Rodgers originally had Hackett as his offensive coordinator when both were with the Green Bay Packers from 2019 through the 2021 campaign. Payton said during the summer that Hackett was responsible for what "might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL" while serving as Denver's head coach last season. Rodgers called those comments "inappropriate" and added in late July that Payton "needs to keep my coaches' names out of his mouth."

Rodgers is recovering from the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 but was able to watch and hear teammates dedicate Sunday's win over Denver to Hackett.

"Awesome for Hack," Rodgers said during Tuesday's show segment. "...(Head coach Robert Saleh) gave him the game ball afterward, and [I’m] just really proud of our guys."

The 2-3 Jets must now stop reflecting on the Week 5 result and instead focus on this coming Sunday's home game against the 5-0 Philadelphia Eagles. As of Tuesday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Jets as seven-point underdogs for that matchup.
