Aaron Rodgers: I have 'a tough decision' to make about future with Packers

The Green Bay Packers' season ended with a 13-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and Aaron Rodgers wasted no time talking about the possibility that he'll play for another team in 2022.

"I'm still super-competitive, still know I can play at a high level, so it's going to be a tough decision," Rodgers said Saturday night when asked to reflect on his legacy with the Packers. "I have a lot of things to weigh in the coming weeks. But man, just so much gratitude for this city and this organization and such a long, long career here that I'm proud of and really thankful for all the men and women that work here, the men I've gotten to cross paths with, coaches and players over the years."

Rodgers, 38, is likely to be named the NFL MVP for the fourth time in his career after throwing for 37 touchdowns and only four interceptions during the regular season. But in the loss to the 49ers, Rodgers threw zero touchdown passes and was sacked five times.

In the 2021 offseason, Rodgers didn't participate in any offseason workouts until the Packers restructured his deal at the end of July. The new deal cleared the way for Rodgers to leave Green Bay in the 2022 offseason if he was still frustrated with his relationship with the franchise.

On Saturday night, Rodgers didn't rule out a return to the Packers, but he made clear that there's one dealbreaker.

"I don't want to be part of a rebuild if I'm going to keep playing," Rodgers said.
