Aaron Rodgers was unable to finish the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The four-time All-Pro MVP was forced to exit the game due to an injury to his non-throwing hand. Rodgers finished with 9-of-15 completed passes for 116 yards and one touchdown.
With the 10-time Pro Bowler sidelined, backup quarterback Mason Rudolph checked in to close out the game. The Steelers cruised to a 34-12 victory, marking their second win in three games.
Rodgers, however, is now in serious doubt of missing Pittsburgh’s game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday as he continues to nurse the injury in his left wrist.
The good news for Rodgers is that he won’t need to undergo surgery to address the minor fracture in his left wrist. However, the 41-year-old was not able to practice on Wednesday and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.
The Steelers officially listed Rodgers as questionable to play against the Bears.
Senior NFL reporter Adam Schefter of ESPN provided a crucial update on Rodgers’ status on Saturday night, revealing the Super Bowl-winning QB’s mindset heading into Sunday’s contest.
“Aaron Rodgers has been pushing to play Sunday vs. the Bears, but Steelers doctors have been more cautious and guarded, per sources. If the decision is left to Rodgers, he will play, but the team has declined to provide hints as to its final decision,” Schefter posted on X.

Based on the report, Rodgers is eager to suit up to face Chicago. It will not be up to him, though. The Steelers are clearly taking a cautious approach with their prized quarterback, and it appears the team will not give him the green light to play if there is a significant risk of aggravating the injury.
Pittsburgh should make a final decision closer to kickoff, but at this point, it would not be a complete surprise if Rodgers ends up sitting out his first game of the season.
The Steelers enter Sunday’s matchup with a 6-4 record and are No. 1 in the AFC North.
