Aaron Rodgers' first play with the Pittsburgh Steelers during Thursday's drills didn't pan out well, as his throw was intercepted by linebacker Patrick Queen.

Despite that, however, the veteran quarterback still had an impressive moment that hyped up both the team and the fans.

Aaron Rodgers Connects With DK Metcalf

In a video that the team posted on Instagram, Rodgers was seen connecting with Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf. While it was a short pass, the Pittsburgh faithful couldn't help but get excited as the two offensive stars worked on their chemistry.

The Steelers themselves expressed their delight at seeing Rodgers throw a pass to Metcalf, who caught the ball easily.

"Been waiting for this," the Steelers wrote in the caption of their post.

Steelers Fans React to Rodgers' Throw

The Steelers' video of the play naturally drew plenty of attention, with many expressing excitement about what the new QB-WR duo can do. While Rodgers is already 41 years old, he still has one of the best arm talents in the NFL.

"DK goin be SCARY THIS YEAR," a commenter wrote. Another one predicted, "8+4 = 12 , DK goes for 12 Touchdowns this year."

"ngl this gets me juiced for the szn," a fan added.

"Rodgers still has that velocity," a supporter noticed.

A social media user remarked, "This season honestly has me so hyped man everyone seems locked in and ready to bring home #7."

"Dude may be 41 but looks fit as hell!" a sixth fan said of Rodgers.

Rodgers-Metcalf Combo Will Be Crucial for Steelers

The Steelers have made the postseason 10 times since 2010; however, they have not won a Super Bowl during that time. The last time they did so was in 2008.

Over the last five seasons, the Steelers have only missed the playoffs once. Nonetheless, they have never moved past the Wild Card round in those runs. That being said, it will be interesting to see if Rodgers can help end that slump for Pittsburgh.

Rodgers is likely playing in his final season in the NFL, so he should have plenty of motivation to go out with a bang. Having a talented wideout like Metcalf as his main weapon should only help him.

In his six seasons in the NFL, Metcalf has accumulated 6,324 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns. His best scoring campaign came in 2020 when he recorded a career-high 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Considering Rodgers' accuracy and arm talent, Metcalf is expected to further elevate his game. Sure enough, that will be crucial if the Steelers are to find any postseason success.
