Aaron Rodgers Praised For Steelers Contract Decision

After weeks and weeks of speculation, Aaron Rodgers is at long last a Steeler.

On Thursday, the team announced that they signed the four-time MVP to a one-year deal nearly 70 days after first meeting with him in Pittsburgh. However, its the figure they signed him to that has many Yinzers feeling more positive about the move.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rodgers was in the Steelers' training facility this afternoon to sign for $13.65 million — which includes $10 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $19.5 million.

Rodgers' contract reportedly includes $5.85 million worth of incentives based on playing time and team performance. And in a day and age where the going rate for a starting quarterback can stretch into the $50 million range, fans were quick to praise the 41-year-old for taking less to potentially finish out his career.

"How can you be mad at this??" a user asked. "13 million now let's get watt signed and get another offensive weapon and give them a chance at a run!!"

"Honestly 13.7 mil ain't bad," another admitted.

"Everyone was saying he would sign for $20 mil+," a fan said. "good deal all things considered."

"Gives new meaning to the phrase DISCOUNT double check," Jared Smith joked.

"Essentially same deal Russ got with my Giants," another person pointed out.

"What a steal."

"Only $10 mill guaranteed, we can't even be mad at that. If he's good and we finally win a playoff game, cool. If he sucks and we get a top 10 pick for a QB, cool," another fan shrugged.

"Welcome to the Steel City ."

Rodgers' lone Super Bowl victory came against the Steelers back in 2010.

Now he'll look to lead Mike Tomlin and Co. to their first playoff win in nearly a decade — and potentially further if the 20-year veteran can turn back the clock.
