Aaron Rodgers shares subtle reaction to Jets’ facing unnecessary heat for getting six prime-time games
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Unlike the rest of the fan base, Aaron Rodgers wasn’t surprised. Rather, he was expecting the New York Jets to get more attention in his second year. The NFL complied by striking six prime-time games for the Gang Green in 2024.

While increased focus can attract a lot of pressure, Rodgers likes these challenges. Instead of having cold feet, the veteran quarterback revealed that Jets fans deserve all the attention because they will be coming to see him play.

I love it. We are must-watch TV, and that's pretty obvious. Everybody knows that. Whether you love me or hate me, people want to see me play. They enjoy watching me play. Aaron Rodgers while speaking with Adam Schein of Mad Dog Sports Radio on Thursday

The sentiment from last season hasn’t changed in the green half of the Big Apple. Following his historic move from the Green Bay Packers, the four-time NFL MVP announced he was aiming to stick around for a while.

However, Rodgers’ first year with the Jets lasted only half a quarter of football. He suffered a season-ending Achilles tear on opening day.

Since then he has been in rehab and, according to head coach Robert Saleh, ready to target the opposition. The NFL wanted in on all the fun, so they hooked the Jets up with half a dozen prime time games and Rodgers loved it.

Six primetime games in the first 11 or 12 weeks. I love it. Aaron Rodgers added

Jets fans must been praying to the football gods to keep the 40-year-old healthy.

Aaron Rodgers retorted on Mike North’s ‘they owe us’ remark after setting the Jets up with 6 prime time games

Following the release of the new NFL Season schedule, fans were gobsmacked by the amount of prime-time games the Jets received. They feared what would happen if Rodgers picked up another injury early in the campaign.

It wasn’t in the NFL VP of broadcast planning Mike North’s memo while planning the matchups. In an interview, North revealed that the Jets, specifically Aaron Rodgers, owed the NFL fans some entertainment.

The Super Bowl winner replied that he doesn’t care much about others’ opinions.

I don’t care what anybody has to say about that. It was shitty for me, it was rough for the league. I get it. Me only playing a few plays last year. Aaron Rodgers said

He assured that the Jets will outshine all expectations this year.

What happens when we pay them back [win all six] this year with six great prime-time games? What are they gonna say next year? Aaron Rodgers said

Suppose the Jets end up besting the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football on opening day, and continue that streak against the New England Patriots in week 3. In that case, the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7, the Houston Texans in Week 9, and the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11, then it will certainly give the league something to think about.
