Aaron Rodgers sits out Jets OTAs, 'something clearly not right' with ankle

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers made headlines during the first round of OTAs for the New York Jets that were open to the media on Tuesday but not for reasons that the four-time MVP hoped.

With Rodgers sidelined, maligned third-year pro Zach Wilson took first-team reps under center at practice and reportedly had a solid day.

Before Jets fans start to panic, it's important to note a couple of things.

First, it's May 23. Memorial Day, Father's Day and Independence Day haven't even happened yet. More importantly for NFL fans, mandatory practices, training camp and preseason games are still in the relatively distant future, so it's far too early to freak out.

Second, numerous reporters tweeted on Tuesday that Rodgers' ankle ailment is likely minor. ESPN's Rich Cimini said that while the quarterback's lack of on-field activity will be the biggest news from day one, it's "probably just precautionary."

For now, Gang Green will have to cross their collective fingers and wait until Wednesday to see if Rodgers can practice in any capacity.
