Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers reportedly and predictably did not show up Monday for the start of organized team activities amid rumors that he doesn't want to play another down for the franchise and wishes to be traded, likely at some point after June 1.
Interestingly, Go Long founder Tyler Dunne reports the 37-year-old spoke with opposing players during the 2020 season about teaming up with a different club.
Such conversations happen more often than some may realize. Per NBC Sports Boston, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. allegedly told opposing coaches and players to trade for him during the 2019 campaign.
Rodgers has been linked with the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders in trade rumors but finds himself in a difficult spot if he truly wants out of Green Bay. He's signed through 2023 and turns 38 in December, and Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has insisted he's not trading the future Hall of Famer.
Rodgers may find himself choosing between signing a new contract with Green Bay that includes a pay increase or electing to retire so he can host "Jeopardy!" on a full-time basis.
