Aaron Rodgers still hasn't signed new Packers contract?

Fans and analysts alike often remark that the salary cap is merely a "myth" in the NFL world and rarely, if ever, handcuffs teams as it pertains to signing and/or holding onto stars. Such opinions don't change the fact that Over The Cap still lists the Green Bay Packers among franchises that must get under what Rams Wire's Cameron DaSilva lists as the $208.2 million salary cap before the new league year opens on Wednesday afternoon ET.

Interestingly, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports quarterback and four-time NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers still hasn't signed his new contract reported last week to be worth around $200 million across four years. Rodgers later called claims about the deal "inaccurate" via Twitter but added he was "excited" to be returning to the Packers.

Also on Monday, it was reported that All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams told Green Bay he won't play on the franchise tag during the 2022 season, and also that the two sides were "far apart" on putting pen to paper on a long-term contract. Later, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (h/t Kevin Patra) reported the Packers will be re-signing linebacker De'Vondre Campbell on a five-year deal worth up to $50 million.

Florio notes the Packers need Rodgers to sign a new agreement "to reduce his 2022 cap number of $46.66 million." As far as the public knows, that hadn't happened as of early Monday evening.
