Achane proving to be Dolphins MVP
Not much has gone right for the Dolphins this season.
Sitting at 3-7 through week 10, it feels like a long shot that Miami will find a way into the postseason.
That does not mean that it is a lost season, though.
In fact, one player has been consistently strong throughout the year.
Achane has turned into a complete player in his third year with the franchise, and with that, the number one weapon on offense.
The former third-round pick out of Texas A&M has been incredible both on the ground and out of the backfield as a receiver in 2025.
Through 10 games, the 24-year-old is 7th in the NFL in rushing yards with 780, while he has the 12th most carries with 143.
In the receiving game, Achane has also produced with 49 receptions for 325 yards and four touchdowns.
He’s averaging 5.5 yards per rush and 6.6 yards per reception.
I would say those numbers are pretty good.
Again, Achane is doing this without two of the top weapons that the Dolphins have in Tyreek Hill and Darren Waller.
Achane also has to get the bulk of the carries with Miami’s two other running backs on the depth chart, being a rookie in Ollie Gordon and a second-year player with minimal action in Jaylen Wright.
This is all from a running back who is 5’9 and 191 pounds.
He is also not just doing his work solely on the outside, either.
A number of his long runs have come on inside zone running plays as well.
It is crazy to think that he might actually be getting better as the season wears on as well as he accounted for 175 rushing yards on 22 carries and 51 yards on six receptions in Sunday’s win over Buffalo.
Achane had his second-straight game with six receptions, and it was his fifth straight game with at least 67 rushing yards.
Again, this is all by a running back that some analysts would say is too small to withstand the grind of being a feature back.
Clearly, Achane can take it, though.
If Miami wants to find itself back in the playoff hunt, it will have to lean on Achane to carry the load.
As evidenced by the first half of the season, he can take it.
