The current Philadelphia Eagles' aspiring dynasty has enough superstar talent on the roster to send multiple players to the hallowed halls of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Perhaps the most likely player to join Eagles greats like Brian Dawkins and Harold Carmichael in Canton is right tackle Lane Johnson.
Johnson might be the preeminent right tackle in football over the last half-decade, as his resume is full of accolades acknowledging his consistency and greatness. By the time his career is done, Johnson could end up in a very exclusive club that solidifies his legacy as one of the best to ever do it.
NFL Spin Zone's list of active players who are locks to end up with gold jackets and a bust in Canton includes Johnson, who remains one of the premier tackles in the game. Johnson's Hall of Fame case has been strengthened in his early 30s, a time when many tackles decline.
Johnson has a compelling Hall of Fame case if he decides to retire tomorrow. With a few more strong seasons on Eagles teams that could help him slip a third Super Bowl ring on his finger, Johnson may be able to waltz into Canton as soon as possible.
Johnson was the third tackle selected among the first four picks in the 2013 NFL Draft. No. 1 pick Eric Fisher had a solid (albeit inferior career), but No. 2 pick Luke Joeckel and No. 3 selection Dion Jordan became two of the worst picks in Jaguars and Dolphins history, respectively.
Johnson has made six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams (including two First Team nods) during his time with the Eagles. Since 2017, the only time he didn't make a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team was 2020, when he was limited to just seven games due to injury.
Johnson and left tackle Jordan Mailata have established themselves as the best tackle duo in the league and an integral part of an Eagles offensive line that has become their offensive trademark during the Jalen Hurts era. Even as he gets a little long in the tooth, Johnson remains an incredibly effective tackle.
