Adam Peters Reveals 1 Key To Commanders' Quick Turnaround
© Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Not much was expected of the Washington Commanders in Year 1 of the new regime under Adam Peters and Dan Quinn, but what has transpired in 2024 was nothing short of superb.

It is a big achievement to transform a team that had won four games, had the 25th-ranked offense (19.4 p/g), and had the NFL's worst defense (30.5 p/g) into a 12-win regular-season team that also has two playoff wins, while having the fifth-best offense in football (28.5 p/g) and the 18th-ranked defense (23.0 p/g).

But what was the catalyst for such a quick turnaround in the nation's capital? General manager Adam Peters has given all the credit to Quinn and the culture he built.

“I think when we got in here, we had a shared vision, and DQ [Quinn] did an incredible job of really instilling that into our players, bringing our guys together, and creating a true brotherhood,” Peters said. “He said that when we started the faster we can create that the better we can be sooner and I think he did an excellent job with that. Our guys did an excellent job buying into that and living that way and so just really proud of how quickly that came together.”

Now, the task is to build on what was accomplished, and the Commanders won't be lurking in the shadows anymore. The rest of the NFL knows they're coming.

With Jayden Daniels showing exactly why he is a franchise quarterback, Washington is in good hands, but it needs to put more pieces around him in free agency and the draft to capitalize on his rookie contract.

It was a big first step for the Commanders in Year 1 of the new regime, and while they snuck up on a lot of teams in 2024, they won't get the same luxury in 2025.

But behind Quinn's culture being the driving force, the Commanders will look to build on what was a successful season and be even better in Year 2.
