Adam Schefter Shares Cleveland Browns' Plans For No. 2 Pick

The Cleveland Browns could hold the keys to the 2025 NFL Draft.

While the Tennessee Titans appear increasingly likely to take Cam Ward with the first overall pick, observers are less certain how Cleveland will use the No. 2 pick. Adam Schefter has changed his prediction throughout the offseason, but he seems more confident in who the Browns won't draft.

Schefter went from thinking the Browns would target a quarterback to speculating that they'd pair Myles Garrett with Abdul Carter. Last week, the ESPN insider called Travis Hunter "the more likely pick."

On his latest podcast, Schefter doubled down on his belief that Cleveland won't select a quarterback with the second pick. However, that doesn't mean the organization won't target a signal-caller in Green Bay.

"They're going to take a quarterback high," Schefter said. "I don't expect it to be at No. 2, barring some sort of upset. I think Travis Hunter feels like the pick ... They're going to take a quarterback, but I think they are more inclined to do it on the second day, if they don't trade up back into the first round."

Schefter noted that Cleveland opens the second round with the No. 33 pick. He said there's "no way" more than three quarterbacks get taken on Thursday and called it a "real possibility" the Browns begin Friday night by drafting Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, or Jaxson Dart.

However, Schefter said Cleveland could also leverage the pick to trade for a late first-round selection. Perhaps that scenario could unfold if Shedeur Sanders or another passing prospect falls on Thursday evening.

"So the Cleveland Browns become another team of interest, especially on the quarterback front, with them holding that opening pick on Friday night," Schefter declared.

Cleveland's quarterback room is in disarray with Deshaun Watson undergoing another surgery on his ruptured Achilles. The $230 million quarterback could miss the entire 2025 season, but his contract makes it difficult for the Browns to invest in an expensive replacement.

The Browns instead signed Joe Flacco to a one-year, $4 million contract. Flacco, who led Cleveland to a 2023 playoff run, will compete with Kenny Pickett for the starting job if the team doesn't add anyone else.

Whoever wins Cleveland's QB1 gig could welcome a top receiver if the Browns draft Hunter with the No. 2 pick. But that's assuming they don't play the two-way star at cornerback.
