When it comes to talking about the genuine Super Bowl contenders in 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs are still a force to be reckoned with.
While not everyone shares that same sentiment, Andy Reid's team, until knocked off their AFC perch, will still be the top dog in the conference.
Yes, the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals will all be clamoring to knock Kansas City off, but as of now, none have succeeded in doing so in the last three years.
And for former NFL running back Rashard Jennings, when speaking on Good Morning Football, Kansas City is still the team to beat in the conference.
“Patrick Mahomes, you got Andy Reid, Travis Kelce is still there, they bring back healthy receivers, in short, yes,” Jennings said on if the Chiefs are AFC favorites. “They’re the premier team, they’ve created a dynasty, they went to the Super Bowl last year, that’s the only thing you could have done besides win. You have to go through them, and it’s going to be a tough season for a lot of guys when they go see the Kansas City Chiefs. When we talk about the AFC, they are the front (team).''
The Chiefs' aura might have been slightly dented after the Super Bowl blowout, but the roster appears to be in solid shape as we turn for training camp.
The receiver room is healthy (for now), and there is hope that the offensive line can sort itself out with Jaylon Moore and Josh Simmons the new pieces in front of Patrick Mahomes.
Granted, the Super Bowl loss leaves a lasting impression, and there is a sense that the Chiefs won't be the top dog in 2025. However, until we see another team, whether it be Buffalo or Baltimore, successfully knock them off their perch in the postseason, the Chiefs will get the benefit of the doubt.
Which is what winning two Super Bowls in the last three years gets you.
