Bills OL Spencer Brown said that he took a copious amount of drugs in order to play through back pain, noting that the NFL signed off on it. Brown also said he wouldn’t have played if he wasn’t feeling good to go.
“Just lingering stuff from what’s happened to me the last couple weeks here. And what happened in that LA game just kind of got nicked up and then I took enough drugs to sedate a small elephant when I was in LA,” Brown said, via NBC Sports. “Everybody’s laughing. It’s protocol. NFL signed off on it, so it’s OK,” Brown continued. “But yeah, just took care of the body the best way I knew how and got through the Vegas game and played pretty well and got on the bye week and kind of bit me in the butt a little bit. So, just taking it easy and smart. I do pride myself on being ready every single day. When I’m out there, I’m out there. There’s not going to be any, ‘He’s nicked up, he’s got this going on, that’s why he’s not playing very well.’ That’s not me at all. If I’m out there in between the lines, I’m good enough to go.”
Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley says that his team continues to improve despite blowing their lead in the loss to the Patriots this past week.
“Those are the opportunities where you’ve got to learn to put people away,” Hafley said, via ESPN. “When you let really good teams that have experience and have been through big games, when you let them hang around, that’s what happens. And it’s the first time we’ve been in that situation. So I need to do a really good job of using this as a teaching moment. As hard as it feels, and as much as it hurts, you’ve got to learn from wins and you’ve got to learn from losses, and we have to grow from that.”
Jets HC Aaron Glenn continues to reassure reporters that he isn’t concerned about his job security and said the team needs to improve its passing game ahead of next week.
“There’s so much that I think about when it comes to us improving each week that it really doesn’t come across my mind, to be honest with you,” Glenn said, via ESPN. “I understand how this league is, I understand what this business is about, but my first job is each week improving this team and that’s the only thing that I think about.”
“Absolutely. I mean, that’s what this is,” Glenn continued. “It’s a bottom-line business and we have to win, but we still have nine games left, so we still have an opportunity to win nine games.”
“We were not successful in the passing game,” Glenn added. “A lot of that has to do with us number one, making plays, two, me putting them in position and three, not allowing these third-down penalties.”
