Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel seemed to become more serious after the team’s 1-6 start to the season, shifting from the lighthearted personality he’s come to be known for. Miami C Aaron Brewer said McDaniel still makes jokes with players, but had to put more emphasis on the details with their bad start.
“I wouldn’t say he took a (break), that’s just his character,” Brewer said, via NFL.com. “He’s been still joking around, having his little jokes that he throws in here and there, but it’s just been more of an emphasis on what’s really, really important and what we needed to do. We started off in a bad spot, so we had to turn that all the way around, make a full 180. He’s still being himself but it was just more emphasis on the little details and things we need to tighten up on.”
Now with a 6-7 record, Brewer is proud of the way their team responded to adversity.
“I’m extremely proud of the way this team has stuck together,” Brewer said. “We started off not the way we wanted to, but instead of pointing fingers and separating, we all leaned more into each other. We all took accountability. We tried to figure out what each individual player could do better and we just continued to fight. That was kind of the reason for me saying that because I would much rather be a part of a group that leans into each other during times of adversity than not.”
