AFC Team might have done the Cowboys an inadvertent favor
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It is officially NFL Draft month.

As it stands right now, the Dallas Cowboys have seven picks in the draft. They are as follows.

  • 24 overall (first round)
  • 56 overall (second round)
  • 87 overall (third round)
  • 174 overall (fifth round)
  • 216 overall (sixth round)
  • 233 overall (seventh round)
  • 244 overall (seventh round)

The Cowboys are missing their fourth-round pick thanks to the Stephon Gilmore trade they made last year.

For now.

Recently the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans agreed on a trade that would send Stefon Diggs to the Texans.

This can change the shape of the Cowboys draft and for the better.

The Cowboys currently pick at 24 overall in the first round while the Bills currently pick at 28. Many Cowboys fans have been looking for way to recoup that fourth-round pick mentioned above.

The Bills just gave them one.

As it stands the Buffalo Bills receiver room looks like this:

  • Khalil Shakir
  • Justin Shorter
  • Curtis Samuel
  • Mack Hollins
  • Tyrell Shavers
  • Andy Isabella
  • KJ Hamler
  • Bryan Thompson

They need help and this is a very receiver-rich NFL Draft class.

Should the Dallas Cowboys come on the clock at 24, and Brian Thomas Jr. or Xavier Worthy are on the board, you would have to think the Bills would be interested in at least one of them.

What could a trade with the Bills look like?

Here is your chance to gain your fourth-round pick back:

The Cowboys can send 24 and in return they get back pick 28 and 128.

This might not seem like much at first glance but the Cowboys have had very good success selecting in the fourth round.

Tyler Biadasz, Tony Pollard, Dorance Armstrong, Dalton Schultz, and Dak Prescott were all fourth-round picks.

You would think they would like a shot to replicate previous success. If it does work out this way, the Cowboys owe a thank you to the in-state rival Houston Texans.
