After critical drop, Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb solidifies spot in 'No. 88 Club'

Former Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant went from CeeDee Lamb critic to unabashed Lamb fan during a 23-16 victory over the Giants on Monday. After skewering Lamb on Twitter for dropping an easy pass in the first half, Bryant was seen hugging the Cowboys' wideout after the game, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

The first-half drop could have been a touchdown. Social media flamed Lamb for his mistake.

“It was very frustrating,” said Lamb of the drop after the game.

It’s unlikely that NFL players scroll through Twitter at halftime, but Lamb played in the second half like he read every tweet.

To secure the win on Monday night, Lamb made a one-handed touchdown catch that teammate Ezekiel Elliott applauded in the post-game news conference.

“CeeDee’s got that No. 88 for a reason,” Elliott said.

No. 88 isn’t just a number in Dallas. It’s a statement that screams "I’m the Cowboys best wide receiver." Cowboys stars Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin — both Hall of Famers – and Bryant wore the number.

Lamb is the newest member of "No. 88 Club."

Earlier in the season, Cowboys VP Stephen Jones said Lamb needed to “work his way into being a No. 1 wide receiver." If his second-half play Monday is any indication, Lamb is on his way to cementing that status.
