After Russell Wilson's extension, Denver's Justin Simmons wants 'very expensive' dinner

On Thursday, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson agreed to a five-year extension for $245 million. Wilson is now linked with the Broncos for seven years and $296 million. According to Forbes, $165 million is guaranteed, and it’s the second-largest contract in NFL history.

Now at least one teammate wants a piece of the action.

“He’ll have to take me out to dinner. A very expensive one,”  Broncos safety Justin Simmons told DNVR Sports Zac Stevens. “I’m excited for him. Selfishly, I’m excited for us.”

Bronco receiver Courtland Sutton is also ecstatic. He has played with five different quarterbacks in four seasons.

“(He’s) always thinking about ball,” Sutton said of Wilson, according to Stevens.

The Broncos have lacked a player with Wilson’s focus and gravitas at quarterback since Peyton Manning retired in 2016. Denver averaged 19.7 points per game last season.

“Being able to put up points in this league is everything,” said safety Kareem Jackson in a Thursday news conference. “The offense looks a ton different with him under center.”

The Broncos haven't made the playoffs since the 2015 season.
